JAID Installation Guide



	JAID Systems Setup & Installation Guide

PLEASE FAMILARIZE YOURSELF WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING INSTALATION.

Please make yourself familiar with the following included parts:
(1) JAID System
(2) Grey Data Cables (attached to the JAID System)
(1) JAID Controller Card
(3) Rubber Grommets (1 is an extra spare)
(1) Power Cable
(1) Anti-Static Wrist Band

Step 1:
Place the JAID System as close to your computer as possible on the desired side.

Step 2:
Ground yourself using the Anti-Static Wrist Band. Refer to instructions included with the Anti-Static Wrist band for proper usage.

PLEASE NOTE: During installation you should hold the JAID controller by the side edges to avoid touching the gold PCI contact pins.

Step 3:
Open your computer and remove the PCI Slot cover from the PCI slot you intend to install the JAID controller card in. DO NOT install the JAID controller at this time. The JAID Controller will be installed in step 9. Refer to the manual that came with your computer for instructions on opening your specific computer case and removing your specific PCI Slot cover.

Step 4:
Thread the grey data cables (labeled A and B) through the desired PCI slot, placing Cable A nearest to the PCI Slot and Cable B farther away from the PCI slot.

Step 5:
Pull the Grey Data Cables through far enough to easily attach grommets. Move the JAID System closer to your computer if necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: Your PCI Slot may contain sharp edges. Take caution to ensure you do not tear or cut the cabling while installing the controller.

Step 6:
Attach one rubber grommet to each Grey Data Cable below the label. An extra grommet has been included for your convenience in case one is lost during installation.

Step 7:
Plug Cable A into Slot A on the JAID Controller Card. Plug Cable B into Slot B on the JAID Controller Card.

PLEASE NOTE: The data cables are keyed to fit only in the proper orientation. They should fit snugly and may snap into place when you connect them properly. If in doubt, refer to Diagram 4.

Step 8:
Slide the grommet along cable A to match up with cable pass-through slot A while leaving a minimal cable distance along the JAID Controller. Repeat with Cable B in Slot B, again leaving a minimal cable distance.

Step 9:
Pinch the rubber grommet (and the cable that in inside it) along the top and slide the grommet (with the cable inside) into cable pass-through slot A.

PLEASE NOTE: It may require some pressure and wiggling to properly seat the cable. Be careful not to bend the PCI Slot cover attached to the face of the card.

Step 10:
Slide the Grey Data cables back out the PCI slot and insert the JAID Controller card into the PCI slot. Again, be careful not to damage or cut the cables while sliding them through the PCI slot. Refer to the instructions in your computer manual if you need help installing the PCI card.

Step 11:
Replace your computer cover.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not power on your computer until the JAID system is running.

Step 12:
Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position. Plug power in to the JAID system, and power on the JAID system FIRST and your computer SECOND.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not power off the JAID system while your computer is running.

Turn off your computer before turning off the JAID system.
Hardware installation is now complete.
